I used to have occasion to spend part of each summer at a very rural cabin (on a lake).  The cabin dated back in the 1950’s.

Part of the rustic charm of the cabin – which helped offset the lack of plumbing and running water – was the two or three handmade braided rugs at the cabin.  Rugs which dated back to the 1950’s or 1960’s.   Seeing those rugs inspired me to consider making such rugs myself.

It’s taken a few years for that inspiration to turn into perspiration.  I’ve finally gotten to it this year.  I’ve now completed my very own braided rug.  I now plan to hand-make several rugs for relatives and friends.  Woo hoo!
